Cat not eating
We are house sitting for my sister in law and she has 2 dogs, so we brought our cat with us. Today is the first day here and she isnt eating or using her litter box… I know she is out of her element here as we dont have any dogs and she has never been around one before. Is there anything I can do?
Just be patient with her until she gets used to her new environment and the two dogs. Also, make sure she has her own "safe" area where she can feel secure and not be bothered by the dogs.

Takk digs his 1st hole while Kiitos watches.
They are not eating solids yet…but they are well on the way to kitty box use and we are starting the weaning process.
note: DO NOT use clumping litter - as you can see, I am picking litter from his mouth as he picks it up and he sneezes due to the dust. This is an un-scented, clay based cheep kitty litter.

Cat not eating
I have to leave my cat for a while and have neighbours that can come & feed him. In past experience other wild cats come & eat the food as well so I end up feeding the whole neighbourhood! I have seen there are automatic pet food products out there but I dont think it would stop the problem, I am also aware of the microchip cat flap but unfortunately I live in a rented house with metal doors and cant install a flap. Any other ideas please would be greatly appreciated…….
You can’t. Unless you put your cat inside.

Tegan talks about drinking after not eating for several days because she got her wisdom teeth out, which led to her passing out in the bar she was at and waking up with her shirt nearly pulled off…

Cat not eating
My cat is obsessed with food and is quite a pig. I brought home a puppy and she is eating his food. She's on a diet for being overweight but I don't know how I can keep the food from the cat without the puppy being able to get to it.
I forgot to mention that I always leave food out for the puppy. My husband told me to do this because with his dogs in the past, he found this works the best because the dog knows it always has food and won't gorge himself at feeding time.
You are just going to have to have set times for both animals to eat. No more free feeding wither animal. It's been decided among the vet community that set feeding scheduls are beeter for both dogs and cats anyway. Freefeeding is old school and was really only for the convienence of the humans.
I'd like to share a bit more with you about your fat cat though and what you can do to help him slim down.
There is NO such thing as dry "diet" food for cats. Dry foods are filled with carbs that make your cat fat. You can't make a dry food without carbs, so there are no dry diet foods.
The proper amount to feed per cat/per day should be about 5.5 ounces of wet (high quality grain free canned or Raw Meat/Bones/Organ) food.
The calories in that amount of food are sufficient for most "normal" sized cats. Of course a highly energetic cat will need more food to keep it healthy, and a lazy cat will need less food to keep it from getting obese. But 5.5 ounces of wet food per day is a good place to start.
Here is a fantastic site that will help you help your cat lose weight!

Hand Embroidered Atara yoke (ATE- 4) CAT# ATE- 4. Sizes of talletot vary greatly. The silk and synthetic ones vary in size, for men, from about 36 54 inches (91 137 cm) to 72 96 inches (183 244 cm). The woolen tallit is proportionately larger (sometimes reaching to the ankle), conforming to the Halakha that the tallit should be large enough to be full-body apparel and not just scarf-like. A ribbon, or a band artistically woven with silver or gold threads (called “spania”), and about 24 inches (61 cm) long by 2 to 6 inches (5 to 15 cm) wide, may be sewn on the side of the tallit that is nearest to the head, and is called the atarah.

We are so pleased with this product’s performance that it is hard to describe everything it can do to improve the health and welfare of pets around the world. The best way we know of letting you know what this product can do, is let you read for yourself what this product has done! TO: Nature’s Balance, Inc. FROM: Keith Butt, M.A., VetMB., (Cantab) M.R.C.V.S. Kynance Veterinary Clinic, London, England SUBJECT: Report on the use of Nature’s Balance PetSpan and clinical results obtained. I have been using Nature’s Balance PetSpan at the Kynance Veterinary Clinic since 1992 and since that time I have been able to collate a number of interesting observations which I feel will inevitably mean that PetSpan will join the ranks of the alternative and complementary therapy armament here in the West. Algal supplements from other sources may be found on the shelves of health-food and pet stores but should not be confused with Nature’s Balance PetSpan which I have used exclusively in my clinical studies and on which I have based all of my observations. Our small animal patients are testimony to PetSpan’s unique vitamin and mineral-rich resources; essential elements to the maintenance and improvement of any pet’s health, vitality and physical appearance From the results I have obtained I believe there is strong quantifiable evidence to support further clinical trials and research in a number of important areas, including cancers, kidney, liver and skin diseases. Cats and dogs will each benefit in their own way from including PetSpan in their diet. I have been particularly impressed with their acceptance of PetSpan, and found very few animals unwilling to try it. Cats and dogs have even eaten it on my consulting room table during examination. As a general point I am also most impressed with PetSpan as a natural source of vitamin B12, Vitamin B12 is not present in most supplements and is particularly important in the health maintenance of animals in old age. PetSpan contains more
