what is the name of the cat medication when your cat has a cold or keeps sneezing?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat sneezing

My cat has all her shots and has recently been spade but she has been sneezing allot lately. She is active and she eats well with no runny nose. Can’t afford to take her to the vet please help.

An upper respiratory infection is caused by a virus. What the vet usually prescribes is an antibiotic to guard against side effects.

She will probably shake the cold, but if you see she has diarrhea or becomes lethargic, then a vet trip is a must.

However, sometimes sneezing is not related to anything medical.

My vet gives my cats a cortisone shot, a B-12 shot, and oral antibiotics (to fend off secondary infections) for URI. It's possible she picked up a URI at the vet- any time there are several cats in one place, it's easy to spread. There are very few human medicines that are safe for cats. Our systems are very different from theirs and most meds are toxic to them. OTC medications actually just soothe symptoms anyway and do nothing to cure the infection. If the sneezing persists, she gets runny eyes, stops eating or drinking, or becomes lethargic, she'll need to see a vet ASAP.
