Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat diarrhoea

my cat is about 4 months old…..i already went to the vet and gave me some medication…but it doesnt seem to work…i gave my kitty glucose and some nutrition food as consulted by the vet…but nothing seems to be working…..his anus seem to flow some liquid form of poop, and it continues to flow as if it is pee-ing all d time from his bum….should i juz let him cure himself or i should do something??coz,my previous cat had diarrhoea and she cured herself, she’s about the same age….but im afraid if i dont do anything my current kitty will die….i LOVE HIM SO MUCH!he’s the sweetest cat that i have…please tell me any method to cure him….tell me what to do…..

you need to call that vet office and tell him the medicine did not work. They will tell you what to do. Dont just ignore it, it probably wont get better on its own. When there is diarrhea he could get dehydrated…………………just call the vet back asap…………if they dont fix it this time, find another vet!

Should I be worried that my house cat has been sneezing?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat sneezing

My cat (9 years old) has sneezed a few times in the past two days. She's never sneezed before and I was wondering if I should be worried? She's not sneezing a lot, maybe about six times that I've noticed in two days.

She's a house cat, doesn't interact with other animals and other than a few sneezes, she seems absolutely fine. She's not off her food or anything but I just read a few posts about cat flu and now I'm worried.

She never leaves the house and I don't want to take her to the vets if it's not necessary because I don't want to take her near any animals who might actually pass something more serious onto her.

Nothing's changed in the house so I don't thinks he can be allergic to anything. She does have long hair though and that might have irritated her, it sometimes gets in her eyes.

Will taking her into the bathroom when the shower's running help? I read that somewhere.

Thanks!

Cat flus are pretty much self-limiting and she should be just fine.
You need to watch if she stops eating or is getting really lethargic. Also it is very important that she is breathing freely. If the symptoms should get serious then she must go to the vet.

The shower number may help if she gets really congested. If it is that bad though I would take her to the vet.

Why is my older cat eating so much?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Cat not eating

Usually I fed my cat two cans of wet cat food a day. But now she wants another can or something else to eat usually 1-2hours after she gets done with her first can. Usually I give her some tuna or something before her other can of cat food. But still she has never been like this for all her 11 years. So why is she doing it now?

Along with the increased appetite does she appear to be loosing weight? Does she drink more? Is she using the litter box more? Is her coat starting to have an unkempt look?

These are signs of hyperthyroidism and diabetes. These are both common illnesses for a kitty the age of yours. Please schedule an appointment for a wellness exam with her vet.

Both of these illnesses are treatable. The sooner treatment is started the better.

Purrs for you and kitty.

SERIOUS cat illness??? What is this!?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Cat illness

All three of our cats have been stricken with an odd illness, and I’m very worried. They’ve displayed symptoms for about two weeks. They fight a lot so I didn’t necessarily realize that there was something wrong. They all have flea colors and I haven’t seen anything on them (although my rats did get mites of some kind recently?? I THINK are all gone now?). Anyhow - here are the symptoms:

Red irritated areas of skin
Some hair loss around injuries
Large wounds (like this: http://cruiser.smugmug.com/photos/31630352-L.jpg NO that is not one of my cats)
Scabs
I have no idea where the wounds are coming from…

And I THINK that’s it.

The wounds are all over one or their bodies, on the stomach of another, and on the tummy and legs of the last kitty. I came home today and one of them had left a bloody trail in the kitchen because he had an open would on his back (the size of a folded dollar!!! =O)

I will make sure they get help from a vet, but do you have any idea what’s wrong with them!? Is it serious? Could it be worms? What about another parasite? Is it a contagious infection of some sort? I’m really worried.

For about three days the cats wen without their flea collars because I forgot to buy their new ones, but only for three days. They have flea collars on now (they usually do) but could it have involved that? I saw a few TINY round black bugs on my rat’s cage a while back, we cleaned him and all the stuff around him, but I wonder…???

Please help me! I’m losing my mind! What could be wrong with them!?

COuld be something called Mange.
If it is all 3 its not an allergic reaction - very unlikely- and i would say it could be some kind of parasite; hopefully if you get them treated today all will be well. I know it may be expensive with 3 cats!
It wont be flea’s, even if they have them bad they wouldn;t look like that. The best flea treatment is one from the vets but it is quite expensive for 3 cats (it is here in the UK anyway!) however you can get flea sprays from the vet which are reasonably cheap and much more effective than flea collars alone.
